Two of our employees have decided to raise money for Cancer Research by running Race for Life’s Pretty Muddy 5k on July 21st. Both Naomi and Bryony have been affected by cancer in some way, so we asked Naomi a few questions about why she’s running decided to take on this challenge.

What do you do at Oakenhurst & how long have you been here?

I work in the administrative department, mostly eating chocolate at my desk, and I’ve been working at Oakenhurst for just over a year and a half.

Are you doing any training for the day?

I’m training twice a week by going out for a run/walk with my dogs (who normally decide if it’s a walk or a run) along the beach.

What made you decide to raise money for Cancer Research UK?

I have chosen to do Race for Life because I lost my Nana Heidi to this illness, who I was extremely close to. So now I want to do this for everyone else who is suffering with cancer and the families and friends who are affected by it.

What are you looking forward to or worried about on the day of the race?

I’m looking forward to the Muddy Run as I’m doing it with a group of lovely people who will make it fun and we’ll all support each other throughout the race. Plus I’m hoping for a mud fight at the end!

There’s still time to donate to the cause if you haven’t had a chance yet. Every donation, no matter how small, helps in the fight against cancer. Please donate via Naomi’s Race for Life donation page. To keep up-to-date with Bryony and Naomi’s progress, follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram
